Amoigos. This is is a new aquintance that i had the pleasure of getting to know during easter. There was something appealing about the bottle that that made me choose this one, eave though i dont care much for the mane stream mexincan styled beers you can find here in Finland. The fact that it says tequila flavourd beer on the label med me both excited and terrified at the same time. probably the reason why this bugger ended up besides my beloved London pride in the shopping basket. The coulor of the beer is not very pleasing i think. In the picture it actually looks darker and better than it did in reality.
The colour was pretty much Finnish lager like. (If you have not figured it out by now, being compared in any way to a Finnish lager will pretty much destroy any chance a beer has of getting good ratings). In other words the colour was not pleasing(Already at this point I was wondering why did I buy this). Since i was at a party when drinking this I dd not bother to pour this one into a glass. This feels like i may not have given this one a proper chance, and i might not have. But to be honest with this thing it would not have made a diffrence.
The smell was light lager like with a hint of some kind of sweetness embedded in there somewhere.
Finally we get to the tasting. From the article so far you may already have figured out where this is going but let me tell you.. Its worse than that! Already when the first drops hit your tongue you can tell that there is something terribly wrong here. To put it simply, this is not a beer! It is refreshing and kind of tasty but its not a beer. Its light, its sweet, its sour all in one, its more lika a Bacardi breezer than a beer. And where are the tequila flavors that were promised on the label? Well I sure could not find them, and this was partly why i bought this thing. Now I had some serious doubts from the beginning with Amigos but it still let me down, and it wasn’t a soft landing. I cant even recommend this to someone who loves mixed drinks like breezers. If the label says beer then you at least expect there to be some malty and hoppy flavors.
All and all, if this was marketed as something else than a beer, then i guess it could be ok. But as a beer it gets no points from me. Beer lovers stay away!
